In Adobe Acrobat, create your identity by filling in your 'Identity Preferences.' Click the 'Edit' menu and select 'Preferences.' Select 'Identity' from the categories.
Enter your information in the boxes, such as your name, title, company name and email address.
Create your stamp image. You can use an existing company logo or artwork you've used in the past. For example, you could start with an image of your company logo with the word 'Approved' below to create a 'Document Approved' stamp. Make the image small---less than 100 KB if you can.
Under the 'Tools' menu, select 'Comment & Markup.' Click 'Stamps.' Click 'Create Custom Stamp.'
In the dialog box, browse to find the file for your starting image. Enter a category and a name for the stamp that you can recognize later. Click the check box to reduce the image's file size. This is a good idea if your image file is a JPG or TIFF file. If it's a PDF file, you can uncheck the box. Click 'OK.'
Click the 'Tools' menu. Select 'Comment & Markup.' Under Stamps, you can see the new category and stamp name you created. This is where you can access and edit the stamp.
Add dynamic fields by copying them from an existing Acrobat dynamic stamp file. A list of these stamps are located under 'Tools,' 'Comment & Markup,' 'Stamps' and 'Dynamic.' Click the 'Edit' menu.' In 'Preferences,' select the 'General' category. Click the box that says' Use Single-Key Accelerators to Access Tools.' Click 'OK.' This feature will allow you to highlight and select a dynamic field.
Open a dynamic stamp by going into your Program Files on your hard drive. The stamps are found in a file located in Program FilesAdobeAcrobat Acrobatplug-insAnnotationsStampsENUDynamic.pdf, according to Acrobat Insider. Open this file in Acrobat. Select a stamp that you want to use. You want to find one that contains fields you want to use. To add the current date and time from your computer on your stamp, use the 'Approved' stamp. On this one, the word 'Foozle' stands as a placeholder for your identity name.
To copy a dynamic field, type 'R.' This is the one-key accelerator you will use to select the field. Right-click the field. Select 'Edit' and 'Copy.' Close the Dynamic.pdf file.
Open the file that has your new stamp in it. It is located in Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataAcrobat8.0Stamps. Open the file most recently created, which is the custom stamp you just started.
Paste the dynamic filed onto the stamp. Under the 'Edit' menu, select 'Paste.' Type 'R' to highlight and select the pasted field. Move it around and change its size as needed. Double-click the field to bring up the 'Text Field Properties.' You can change the appearance and other options for the dynamic field.
Repeat these steps for all the dynamic fields you want to add to your stamp. Once you place the stamp on a document, the placeholder will be replaced with your Identity information and the date and time in your computer. Save the file.
Place your stamp on a document using the 'Stamp' tool.
There is sometimes a misconception about how a custom dynamic stamp works in the PDF environment. Here is a short video that demonstrates how such a stamp gets applied:
As you can see, the custom dialog that collects the data that will be placed as part of the stamp pops up after the stamp is placed. Once all information is entered, and the “OK” button (how that button is labeled is up to the stamp’s implementation) is pressed, that data gets merged into the stamp and the stamp gets displayed. From that point on, that data can no longer be changed. It’s like placing a rubber stamp on a piece of paper. Once it’s there, it can no longer be modified. There are however a few things we can do with a PDF stamp: We can move the stamp, resize and rotate it – as shown in the video.

In the second part of the video, I am demonstrating how to use the “Stamp” tool button on the toolbar. In order to have this button available, you will need to add it to your toolbar.
