I recommend Mint, but there are numerous others you can consider such as openSUSE, Manjaro, Debian, and Fedora. I have one big reason to think Mint is a good fit for Windows 7 users. Step 1. Download VirtualBox from its official Website. Download the correct version for your operating system.

Step 16. Then, after the installation our virtual machine is ready to run. Simply double-click the machine in the left menu of the Virtual Box main page to start the virtual machine. The virtualbox will boot and load the Linux operating system.
