- Privilege escalation with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit This post follows up from where we had left off with the Social Engineer Toolkit. I'm going to perform a privilege escalation on Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.
- I just installed cs as an administrator (right click on the installer and choose Run as administrator). I tested Adobe PS CS1. Photoshop 8 (CS) in Windows 7 SP1.
- That is, to be even more clear, those privileges you get when you right-click on PowerShell in Menu and select Run as Administrator. Which brings us to the question: how do I run a.ps1 file in PowerShell as Administrator? Kindly note that I am logged in my PC's as Administrator (single user, as a matter of fact). Thank you all in advance.

Download Official Windows 7 ISO images from Microsoft: Few days back , a friend of mine Accidentally broke his original windows 7 Installation Disk and unfortunately he had not bothered to create a backup copy of his windows 7 Disk beforehand. So i had to lend him the Original copy of Windows 7 disk. However if something similar happens with you and you cannot source out a windows 7 disk from your friends or relatives, continue reading on to find out how you can download a copy of the Windows 7 ISO image officially from Microsoft for free.
If you are stuck in a situation where you have lost your windows 7 installation disk or damaged it accidentally, you can always download a copy of your windows 7 ISO file from Microsoft itself. Many people are not aware of this and most of the time they usually end of downloading pirated copies of Microsoft windows 7 from various sites online.
Note I announced the availability of Windows PowerShell 3.0 in PowerShell 3.0 is Now Available for Download! I also talked about installing Windows PowerShell in Windows 7 in How Do I Install PowerShell on Windows 7 and Other Questions, but that was about Windows PowerShell 2.0.
I would always advise against downloading windows 7 from Illegal sites online. The main reason being most of these pirated copies of windows 7 are modified and have various spywares hidden in them, which are almost undetectable by most antiviruses. Using a pirated copy of windows 7 on your computer will compromise your private data to hackers and at the same time you will not be able to receive major updates for bug fixes and security.

There are two options to choose from during the Windows 7 installation process:
- Upgrade. This option replaces your current version of Windows with Windows 7, and keeps your files, settings, and programs in place on your computer.
- Custom. This option replaces your current version of Windows with Windows 7, but doesn’t preserve your files, settings, and programs. It’s sometimes referred to as a clean installation for that reason.

I have downloaded & installed below packages already.
- .NET Framework 4.5. (
NDP451-KB2858728-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe
) - Windows Management Framework 4.0. (
Windows6.1-KB2819745-x64-MultiPkg.msu
)
Both the packages got installed without giving any error however when I go to Powershell prompt & type the following:
It throws an error:
Cannot start Windows PowerShell version 4 because it is not correctly installed.
techraf1 Answer
It looks like is .NET Framework 4.5.1 not compatible with Powershell V4. So, I have uninstalled .NET Framework 4.5.1 and Windows Management Framework 4.0. Then I installed .NET Framework 4.5 (dotnetfx45_full_x86_x64.exe
) & re-installed WMF 4.0. And rebooted the computer. This time I saw Windows Update was running & it was updating OS. I knew that it was going well.
Now I have PowerShell 4.0 installed in my computer. If I type $PSVersionTable
it will return the result as:
