Dell XPS 8300 running Windows 10 with Broadcom BCM57788 gigabit ethernet adapter. This sytem was testing fine with 50Mbps broadband service but now it's testing with download speeds under 10Mbps. I've tried updating the driver but that doesn't help. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer. Device Manager
Go to Device Mgr and go to the properties of the unknown device, click the details tab and then make sure Hardware IDs is selected. You should see something like:
PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_03D0&SUBSYS_020E1028&REV_A2
Go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and use the Vendor ID (The 4 characters after VEN_) and the Device ID (The 4 characters after DEV_) to find the make and model of your NIC.
